Welcome

The European Union Center of Excellence at the Georgia Institute of Technology was established in Fall of 2008 with the support of a grant from the European Commission. Our goal is to promote wider knowledge and understanding of the European Union and the transatlantic relationship. Building on the natural strengths of Georgia Tech and its commitment to interdisciplinary programs, the Center’s educational, outreach, and research activities will revolve around the theme of “Technological Transformations and Global Challenges in the 21st Century: EU and Transatlantic Strategies for Innovation and Sustainability."

The EUCE sponsors a variety of workshops, conferences, executive roundtables and public talks around the following themes: EU and transatlantic economic governance, energy, innovation and sustainability in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), biotechnology and nanotechnology. Read more »

"The European-American Agenda" - A Dialogue with the German and French Ambassadors

On January 28, 2010, the EU Center of Excellence was honored to welcome Ambassador Klaus Scharioth of the Federal Republic of Germany and Ambassador Pierre Vimont of the French Republic to the Georgia Tech campus. Ambassador Scharioth and Ambassador Vimont spoke to a full crowd of students, professors, and other members of the Tech community, highlighting the growing importance of the transatlantic relationship amidst today's global challenges. Lunch and Lecture: Robert Bell, "The Debate Over Missile Defense in Europe”

On October 12, 2009, the EU Center and CISTP hosted Robert Bell, Senior Vice President for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Account Manager for NATO-EUCOM. Mr. Bell gave an interesting and informative talk detailing the missile defense plans of the former Bush administration and the current plan recently proposed by President Obama.
